my documents wont open

i can get to the my documents foler other ways, but when i try to get there
from the start menu, i get a message "this file does not have a program
associated with it for performiing this action. create an association in the
folder options control panel" well, i went there and i have no clue what to
do. also, when i save to the my documents folder, the icon is there but it
doesnt say anything. i treid to right click on the desktop and do "arrainge
icons by" and "show desktop icons", but it doesnt work. furthermore, when i
click on anything, the list is invisiblem until i run my mouse over
it.....help

regsvr32 /i shell32
