My Documents won't launch from desktop.

I am having a strange problem on my PC today. Double clicking on "My
Documents" from the desktop does nothing, nor can I bring up the
choices menu for "My Documents" when right clicking. All other desktop
icons react normally. From "My Computer", or "Windows Explorer" I can
access "My Documents" and view it's properties. I created a shortcut to
the desktop from Explorer, & the shortcut wouldn't work either. I
don't receive any error messages and there are no errors in the error
logs. Other than MS Automatic updates, no changes were made to this
workstation

Any Ideas would be appreciated

Thanks

When you right click on the MY DOCUMENTS icon, and choose "properties", what does the path say?

I do not get the choices menu for "My Documents" when right clicking,
so I cannot see the properties. From "My computer or Explorer the path
is correct. Also when dragging a shortcut to the desktop, I cannot open
or see the shortcut properties.

Delete the Shortcuts for My Documents that you created and the one on
the Desktop that you had. Reboot.

Go to Display Properties in the Control Panel. Click on Desktop. Then
click Customize Desktop. If My Documents is checked, remove the checkmark
and click OK. Click Apply. Click Customize Desktop again and put a Checkmark
in My Documents. Click OK. Click Apply then OK. Reboot.

Check operation of fix. Did it work?

It didn't help, neither did Tweak UI. This happened after intalling the
latest XP patches that sometime during the begining of August.

What Anti-Virus package is installed? Have you run a Complete Scan of
the Hard drive and My Documents folder, in case there is a Virus in there,
that your Anti-Virus program is blocking you from opening it?

I started having the same problem after installing update 921398. When
removing this update, I was able to access My Documents again on the
desktop. I believe the problem has something to do with the updated
Shell32.dll being installed on my machine. I still haven't found any
fix for this problem.
