My Document's Slow Down/ Hang

After filling up the "My Documents" folder I notice a
huge slowdown in folder browsing. When I have the my
documents folder open it hangs often. I am talking about
having about 1500 files or so in my documents. I also
noted this in Windows 98 and 2000. The reason I post
about this is because, When the contents of my documents
is moved to any other location this does not occur. It is
specific to this folder. I believe this to be a design
flaw of some sort.
 
The larger a folder is the more contents their are to be
displayed,hence it takes longer to open.
