My Documents: show all folders without pushing the MAPS button

How can I configure My Documents so that it immediately shows the complete
folder structure, without having to push the MAPS button each time I open the
explorer?

Let me ask the obvious....

What is this "MAPS button"? Is this some acronym you made up or something
you see that no one else does?

What is it you are actually trying to do? Please explain in the terminology
you see in front of you when doing it - step by step.

Sounds like what you want to do is open Explorer to C: instead of the My
Documents default in XP.
If so, disregard the system tip on the page found here.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;257518. This
procedure works for me on XPSP3.

No, don't disregard the link above. It is the right way to do it.
In the target box:
Add %systemroot%\explorer.exe /e,/root, and explorer will open in the root.
Add %systemroot%\explorer.exe /e, and it will open in My Computer.
Add %systemroot%\explorer.exe /e, C: and it will open in the drive C.
Add %systemroot%\explorer.exe /e, C:\Windows and it will open there.

You could set it to open anywhere you want to by just entering the right path.
Note that there is a blankspace after the e, except for the path to the root.

It seems you misunderstood/mis-read my response. The "System Tip" link on
the page I posted is to be ignored, 'NOT' the instructions to "redirect"
Explorer. These are very same instructions I use whenever I have to
reinstall XP.

Assuming that by the ""MAPS" button, you meant the "Folders" button, then as an
alternative to other [valid] suggestions made in this thread, you could :

open : Control Panel -> Folder Options -> "File Types" tab ...and on clicking the
"Advanced" button while on the "Folder" file-type, re-set the default for "open" from
"Open" to "Explore"

...this will result in ALL folders, when double-clicked on, will open in full
explorer-view with the folders pane visible (including My Documents).

This is how I have my PC set-up, so that you get the folder's view by default.

Oh sorry. I see you are right, when looking at it again.

No problem...just as long the OP got what he was looking for.
