my disk check won't end, stuck in part 4 of 5

Did anyone ever find out how to get a disk check that NEVER ends to
stop? Mine has a similar problem (windows XP). I started a disk check,
it found and replaced a bad cluster in part four and has been running
for 9 hours with no sign of progress or ending. It is just the blue
screen on black, so I can't actually access the "my computer" portion
or move off the screen.

1st,no utility such as CHKDSK should run more than 30 minutes or so,unless
you see progress one way or the other,9 hours........
Either way,if the hd has a bad cluster(s),youre hd is probabably on the way
out,look to replace.However,you might first boot to xp cd,recovery,select 1
for C: Press enter key for password,then type:CHKDSK C: /R This will repair
the hd (20 min.or so)..When thru,type:EXIT
