my computer wont start

my computer wont start up when i turn it on like i can hear the fans
going and my cd drive and hard drive going but it sounds like its
restart every 5 sec and does it all over again ....nothing shows up on
my screen, my screen just goes idol. iv tried to disconnect the ram and
video card but it still does it.....
P4 3.0 ghz
1.5gb ram
xp home
ati graphics card
mci motherboard

Bob, is the heat sink fan on the cpu turning. Sounds like the Processor
maybe overheating.

Do you hear the beep when you turn it on? Could be a variety of things,
either BIOS, software or hardware. Do you see anything on your monitor?

i'v tried to disconnect the ram and video card but it still does it.....

Your computer won't run without any memory or a video card.

nope no sound.... my monitor just sits there with a black screen.... iv
double checked all parts, nothings loose

G'day Bob,

When the computer doesn't make a noise after turning it on, there is one of
three things wrong.

1, The CPU is no longer connected or working.
2, The Memory is no longer connected or working,
3, You no longer have power.

Can you check each of these things? The best way to test these things is to
use similar components.
