Xp home gets past boot screen then nothing

I have a asrock p4s6i motherboard with 2gb of ram and a ati r9550 256mb
graphics card, running windows xp home with sp2.

Every thing works fine, until i got another 1gb of memory to take my
motherboard to its maximum of 3gb of ram.

After i installed it and switched on, my computer boots up fine with no
problems and goes to the windows boot screen with the scolling blue light
under the name.
This goes of and the monitor goes off then on, but at the point where the
mouse icon should appear, never happens, i just get a black screen, but my
hard drive is still running and the monitor is on.

So i took out the 1gb ram so that i only had 2gb installed and xp worked
perfectly.
Re- installed the ram but took out my graphics card and xp booted up fine
and worked with the 3gb of ram installed.

So where is is going wrong with my graphics card installed, i have even
cleared the cmos and put in a fresh re-install of xp home and it still wont
work with my graphics card.

With the graphics card installed my ram goes up to just over 3.1gb

Sorry for going on, but i am going stir crazy with this problem

Thanks for any help you can give

joe

Have you checked at ATI's Support website? You must have integrated
graphics on the Motherboard. Do you disable
it when using the graphics card?
