My Computer won't let me add a VPN Connection for some reason

I really need to get this VPN working for my work, but when I try and add the
VPN connection, it is grayed out. When I try and install their program to
auto-add it, nothing happens and it's as if nothing is installed. I switched
my connection over to my other computer, and all that worked, so there's
something set wrong on this computer.

I am signed is as the admin. I'm running Norton Antivirus 2005 with its
firewall program.

Please help because I really need to solve this and minutes matter. Thank
you!

After searching a little, I found this:

"See if the Remote Access Connection Manager service is running?
(start, run, services.msc <enter>)

If not, attempt to start it."

I tried to start it but then I got this error:

ERROR
Could not start the remote access connection manager service on local
computer.
error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

This is the usual cause:

You Cannot Create a Network Connection After You Restore Windows XP

Try re-applying your current service pack, SP1 or SP2.

SOLVED

Looks like the issue was Telephony. I had earlier unchecked it as a service
since I didn't think I'd need it. I saw something in the services.msc log
that said Telephony, so I went and re-checked in MSConfig
(start>run>msconfig).

So, thanks Rob, but luckily it looks like this worked this time.
