VPN Client doesn't work

I have a brand new Thinkpad T60p notebook.
I configured a VPN client connection.
Everytime I try to establish a new connection I get the following error:
"Error 800: Unable to to establish the VPN connection. The VPN server may
be unreachable, or security parameters may not be configures properly for
this connection."

Things I already did:
1. Check any firewall settings in my PC. -> Firewall is disabled
2. Check the antivirus. -> checked with Norton Support. They told me the
problem was not caused by the antivirus or any of their products.
3. Checked with IBM for problems. > They told me the Ethernet is working
fine. I can access Internet with no problems. So the problem is not related
to Hardware
4. Checked connection with another computer (HP) with the same OS (Windows
XP Professional Edition) -> The HP is on the same network address, and works
fine.
5. Installed a packet analyzer in my PC (Ethereal) -> I caught the traffic
going to the VPN server. I saw the VPN protocol establishing the connection
from HP computer, but none from the IBM PC. The only thing that came out from
the IBM was NBNS which is doing a Name Query NB.

I need help.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. But the problem remains.
Here is what i've done:
1. I have a firewall, but it is disabled
2. I can reach the VPN server. Actually it is through it that I can access
my email, and I have another computer on my network that can establish the
VPN connection without any problems
3. No need for firmware. Everything is updated to the latest firmware
available.
4. The VPN server does not use DHCP. It has a static IP.
5. No other software is blocking, as far as I know, I checked with Symantec
support, and they told me the problem was not related to Norton.
6. I believed that on this item, you are referring to Windows server. The
server is a Nortel Internet firewall. Is uses NAT, but it is working fine
with other PCs. It just doesn't work from my notebook.
7. On the 7th item i needed further testing, because I don't know what
Microsoft OneCare software is.

GRE test.
From you link http://www.howtonetworking.com/Tools/testgre.htm, I tried to
execute pptpclnt from the DOS prompt. It tells me pptpclnt is not recognized
as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I searched for the command in my C: partition, and no file was found. I'm
using XP Professional Edition, and don't have a CD. The system was installed
by IBM.

I also tried the following command:
C:> telnet vpn_server 1723

It works fine.

Update:

I tried to establish a connection with the VPN server using another client
program (Nortel VPN client), and had no problem on the connection.

From this, I may conclude that the problem is with Windows, or Windows VPN
client.

Is the Thinkpad T60p using Windows LiveOneCare? If so, open Windows
LiveOneCare, change onecare settings, and click on the firewall tab and turn
the firewall back on. Click on the Firewall connection tool and select
"VPN - connect to another computer over a virtual private network". Click
apply, OK.
