My computer restarts

Ok, so this has been a problem for awhile. Let me tell you a little about my
computer so you can try to help me out better. I have an e-machine and when I
originally bought it (used) the OS was Windows ME. Even when I had Windows ME
the computer would go to a blue screen and stay on the screen. That was so
long ago I can't remember what the screen said. But, about 2 years ago I
installed Windows XP onto my computer and instead of going to the blue screen
it would flash it for a brief second and then it would restart. It has been
restarting really bad lately. It will restart in the middle of restarting, it
will restart when I am browsing the internet, it will restart while I am
chatting on AIM, it will restart when I am not at the computer, and it will
even restart when no one is logged onto the computer and it is at the sign-in
screen. I have tried reformatting my hard drive, reinstalling XP, and
repairing XP. None of this seems to work. Does anyone know how to fix this
problem? It will be much appreciated considering my sister is stuck with this
computer for 2 more years.

Thanks, Antonea

This might indicate faulty RAM. I'd probably try replacing the
computer's memory.

Antonea, in my estimation, you have a hardware problem. The problem cannot
be attributed to software at this point, because you have reinstalled XP.
First, your sister must save all her files IMMEDIATELY.
If the hard drive dies suddenly, and this is a definite possibility,
recovering the lost files will cost as much as four computers!
The computer needs to go to a reputable shop for troubleshooting. This
should only cost $50 or less. You are having serious symptoms of failing
equipment: either power supply, hard drive, motherboard, or RAM.
