Tthe problem may be caused by spyware but also check for a possible shortcut
in the Startup folder in Start Menu. Also check msconfig for unknown startup
processes and the Run Keys in the Windows Registry. Start Button\Run\type;
'msconfig' and hit Enter, check the Startup tab and uncheck all processes
except for the antivirus and the Office shortcut bar. Start Button\Run\type;
'regedit' and hit Enter, browse to the Run keys on both HKCU and HKLM
branches of the registry, and delete any registry value other than the
antivirus and Windows applications.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
And install an antispyware or scan the system if you have one installed.
There is a fix at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm - Line 260
