I want to change my cdrom drive icon into one that is same picture with dvd
printed with the picture, as i have a cdrom drive and now a dvd drive want to
distinguish the two, does anyone know how to do that?

The drive icon can be customized through the registry, there is no user
interface to access it without 3rd party software.

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons"
will also give you several Web pages explaining how to do it step by step.

I actually do the same very often to differenciate card readers for
CompactFlash, SD, MemoryStick, etc... and wrote a shell extension that add
the ability to change it directly through the drive properties.

Get hold of "Change Icon" program from:-

It is "e-mail ware" i.e. no payment - just send him an email if you
use it.
