try this, start>run and type

desk.cpl

click on the "Desktop" tab, then the "Customize desktop" button, check "My
Computer", then OK, apply.

If "My Computer" is selected then uncheck>OK>Apply, then click the
"Customize desktop" button, check "My Computer", then OK, apply

Good Luck

Right-click on your Desktop and select:
Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop >
General Tab, then click once on the MY COMPUTER
icon, then click OK and Apply.

1.Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.
2.On the Desktop tab, click Customize Desktop.
3.Under Desktop icons, click to select the check boxes of the icons you want to view.
4.Click OK two times.
