'My Computer' gets corrupted

K

Krazy Katt

Hi all,

This has happened a couple of times and it's very annoying. Seems every
once in a while when I click on the 'My Computer' folder to see the
contents of my PC's drives the My Computer folder just locks up
and I end up killing it (by clicking on the cancel button). When I do
this Windows throws up a dialog box 'You chose to end the nonresponsive
program, Windows Explorer, etc. etc.' and of course, because explorer
has died I lose my taskbar and I have to restart the explorer task.
However after this, I cannot get 'My Computer' to startup without
restarting the machine.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Krazy

Run all those mentioned tools [as mentioned by Kelly (MS-MVP/DTS&XP)] in
safe mode.
