My Computer defaults to Arrange By FreeSpace

I searched the group for old topics and found this that relates to a
problem I still have. Sadly the response to the message was rather
useless and didn't resolve the problem.

Here is a copy of the problem I have right now as well:
"I've been having a problem for a while now. Everytime I get a file
select box popping up, if it starts in My Computer, it arranges drive
letters by free space. Everything I try to reset the list to sort by
drive letter works until a new box opens, when it's back to arrange by
free space. Is there a setting somewhere i'm missing to select the
default arrange by setting? "

The key points are that it resets to arrange by freespace EVERYTIME you
open a new save box (in any program: firefox, word, explorer).
Resetting the view through any means I know of (my computer, explorer,
firefox, word) does not save the default settings of arrange by free
space. There has to be a setting that selects what you want to arrange
by.

Thanks to anyone who can help me with my problem (its been going on for
weeks and is just annoying the hell out of me).

In Windows Explorer place cursor on My Computer and select
View, Choose Details and use the Move Up / Down to suit.

Hope this helps.

That doesn't fix it. I know how to change the view properties of any
folder. I have even reset all the folders through Tools -> Options.

The problem is with My Computer in save dialog boxes and IS NOT fixed
by the View Menu.

Restore Sort order in Open and Save dialogs
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_opensaveorder.htm

Or...

To resolve this behavior, reset the default sort order:
1. Right-click Start, click Explore and then click drive C.
2. On the View menu, click Details.
3. Click the Name column to sort items by name, press and hold down the CTRL
key, and then quit Windows Explorer by clicking Close in the upper-right
corner of the screen.
4. Release the CTRL key.
5. Restart your computer.

NOTE: You must perform these steps exactly as they are listed. For example,
do not quit Windows Explorer by clicking Exit on the File menu.

I didn't actually say that it would work.
