Arrange Icons in 'Open' and 'Save' Dialogue Boxes

Somehow in Windows XP my files have changed from arranged by filename to
being arranged by type in Open and Save dialogue boxes for most of my
programs (with the exception of Microsoft Office). Does anybody know of a way
to change the default back to arranging alphabetically by filename instead of
grouping by type. This only happens in the open and save dialogue boxes and
not in any explorer folders. Is there a way to easily change this default
back? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
If you right click on the desktop you should have the option to arange icons.
 
The problem is not on the desktop it is with my open and save dialogue boxes.
For example, if I go into notepad, or even internet explorer and go to open
or save my files are arranged by type instead of by filename. I want to know
how to change the default back to filename.
