My CD-RW Drive will have a cd in, perhaps say, a game cd. It will read the
cd, and the auto-play will pop up. But when I go to install the CD, It'll say
the cd is missing a .dll, or setup.exe is corrupt, or they're be a error
before setup will start. I don't have a clue what is the problem, I've
uninstalled SP 2 to see if it helps, used Nero, and tried the registry trick
that has been posted on here for CD driver problems. It says the drivers
fine, thanks for help.

Do you have another computer that you could test the cd out in? Perhaps the
cd-rom drive is going bad and or you have a problem with other pieces of
hardware. I suggest testing out to make sure the cd in the first place
isn't the culprit. Then narrow it down from there by putting another cd-rom
drive into that computer and using that to install the cd/game. That's the
only thing I can think of. If you need more help, post over at
http://www.spywaretalk.org, someone will be able to help you out.

It happens on many cd's, and it screws up playing music CD's. I've tried many
cd's, I don't know what's wrong with it, I evne bought a new cd-rw but it
still ****s up.

Hello Josh,
have you tried going to device manager, finding the cdrom and right clicking
it, then selecting uninstall. Now reboot the PC and allow WindowsXP to
redetect the CD drive-that should force a driver reinstall by the operating
system.
