Try to repair it.
Add/Remove programs/MS/IE repair.
Just in case check this out.
Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions
If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit
(s) is/are with
these tools.
Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com
and:
SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/
p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
More: There's a good possibility that this is being caused
by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).

I don't see the Enable 3rd party check-box anywhere there.
And I would love to do the spyware thing but IE isn't
exactly opening, so I can't go on the internet at all (I'm
typing this from another PC of course).
btw, I'm running Windows 98.
Thanks for your help!

This started happening today, I open my browser (IE or
just a picture from the My Documents folder) and it will
show the little loading bar full, but then it just freezes
there and the page stops responding.
I've tried restarting about a million times, re- installing
IE 6, running virus checks, etc. I have no idea how to
fix this, please help!
Thanks.
