Problem - If I open a single IE window and try to load sa
AutoTrader.com, it takes about 1 minute. But, if I open another I
window during this hanging period, the first one snaps up in a 1/
second. It's as if I need to "kick" IE to get going.
Config - IE6sp1, Win98SE, Belkin 4 port router firewall, Zone Alarm, n
viruses, no coolsearch, no spy ware - at least I spent 4 hours cleanin
out spyware yesterday.
I've also added registry changes (MTU 1500, MSS 1460, DefaultCpq??
17640 - sorry I can't remember the last key's name...)
I've got a cable modem that is supposed to give me at least 800 Mbs.
get from 150 to 1400 inbound, but usually 300.
I've tried all of the tweeks I can find, searched for spyware, remove
all traces of the dreaded coolsearch, and I still get performance lik
a 14.4 K modem.
Again, I can get great speed if I open another IE window and do a quic
search there. Even file downloads start out fast, then slow down, the
stop and need to be started back up with a new window opening...
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks,
Stev
