Music sounds distorted sometimes

This problem is very annoying. I have a ton of music I play with RealOne
Player. Everyonce in a while the music sounds distortred, kind of like a
combination of Karoke and listening to the music under water. When I open the
advanced volume control and I move the WAVE Left/Right button to the right
the music sounds fine. But sometimes it will just revert back to the old way.
I have tried to find an updated sound driver but there is not one. The sound
card I have installed (factory) is a SoundMax Integrated Digital Audo.

Any suggestions?

Did you check for drivers here ?

I depends on the PC maker and or Mainboard manufacturer.

Does the same thing occur in other software - eg WMP, WinAmp etc ?
