Music cuts out on web page with constraints

I have a 70-slide presenation where every slide has a photo and a caption. I
have a song that plays throughout the slideshow (loops). The file size is
too large to send by e-mail so I had to set up a web page so I could
distribute it.

The web host's constraints are:
- 10MB/file upload limit
- 100 files/page upload limit

I finally got the file size down to 10MB to upload it but the sound cuts off
after the first slide. I lurked this site and changed the mp3 file to a wav
file, and embedded the song, but then the file was 12MB.

I split the file in half and embedded the song in each half and uploaded
them with a link on the last slide of the first half to get the other half of
the slide show. The song cut off after the first slide.

I lurked some more and found this:
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00303.htm

I tried to follow the steps but the "publish" file folder has 327 files in
it so again I can't get it onto my new web page. (I'm non-technical and this
is my first web page - lots of learning!)

Sorry for the long post - ironically I wanted to include as much detail as
possible so as not to waste your time!

Using PP 2000 on stand alone XP

I have been working on this file for 4 weeks now so would greatly appreciate
any suggestions.

still hopeful,

Hi John,

Thx for responding to my post.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear, when I said "I lurked this site and
changed the mp3 file to a wav file, and embedded the song" I meant that I
just got the header added and the wav file was the same size as the mp3.
However, since my PP file was already 10MB embedding the song grew the file
to 12MB so I could no longer upload it.

Even with a small file and embedded song, the music still cuts out after the
first slide. The web host I am using doesn't allow FTP transfer so I
discovered can't use the PP web publish option either.

Any thoughts anyone? Still hopeful,
karen

Thx for the reply John.

Unfortunately, I'd already lurked that to no success. My publish folder has
327 files in it and the web host's has a max of 100 files/page upload (no
ftp) so it's a series of dead ends.

Any other ideas?
cheers,
karen

Hi Karen,
Are you researching and trying hard or just sitting down waiting? Cheers! ;o)
We all been doing the same thing and encountered the same problem and
I did fixed this problem of yours by lurking the same link. The question is -
have you try ALL LINKS that were given and follow the version of PPT
correctly? Ask yourself this question - why they all found the answer and
always lurk you the same link?

I can see you've several problem to solve BUT the real problem is how
you knew the sound were cut-off if you cannot upload over 10MB?

The BIG problem is to tackle the sound cut-off in HTML by experimenting
and using ANY OTHERS small file -- either sound or images to make 4
slides of show. After successful works then substitute all require files.

Tell us how you tackle the sound cut-off problem? After hearing yours I'll
give mine to try out and for sure you'll be happy forever.

The rest of your problem is only nil or nothing. We can tackle them later
one-by-one.

Tell us again, what is your die-heart online server you loved? Are you a
paying member and how long?

Cheers & waiting 4 U'r answers!
Rino
