Multiple Word Documents in Task window Shut down ...

Hello.

When I have multiple word documents open at once, and
they appear in the task bar, when I click on one, then go
back to it after clicking on another (or some order like
that), Word shuts down and I have to deal with the "auto
recovery" stuff.

What's the deal.
