I have two printers connected to my computer. I was curious to see if there
is a way I could spool jobs to each of them at the same time. When I try to
do it know I get an error with my spool service and I have to restart my
computer to print again.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Hi Haley,

Without more specifics, it's hard to give you any advice:

1. When you say "spool jobs to each of them at the same time", do you mean
send different jobs to both printers at the same time? It should be
possible. Each printer has its own print queue.

2. What error are you getting exactly?

3. Spooling can be CPU / RAM intensive. You should ensure you have
adequate resources to do multiple things at the same time. What is your
hardware and OS specs? (i.e. CPU speed, amount of RAM, type of OS and
Service Packs (if any) installed)

When asking a question, more information is usually better, especially
relevant information. Exact steps you are taking, errors you are
encountering, and troubleshooting you have tried are all relevant.

Not only is it possible it's very doable.

Example: I once had four printers attached to my computer:
1. IBM Color laserprinter
2. HP Laserjet
3. Epson Inkjet color printer
4. Kodak photoprinter.

I have, on several occasions, had all four printing at once during
intense projects.

The error message I get is:

Spooler SubSystem App has encounter a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.

My Computer Specs:
Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2 (2002)
AMD Athlon 64 Processor
2.41 GHz, 704 MB of RAM

Thank you again for your help!!

Thats one of the first things I did to try to solve this problem, but it
didn't resolve the problem.

I don't know what to do?!?!

You will probably need to provide a bit more information relating to the
printers, the method of connection, the particular circumstances that
cause the failure.

I have 2 printers connected through USB. HP PSC 1600 and HP Deskjet 6840.

Both printers work as long as I do not spool jobs to them at the same time.
Whenever I try to print simultaneously to both printers, I get an error
message about a problem with Spooler SubSysem App.

I know a little about a computers, but not enough to solve this problem.

Hi Haley,

The MS articles suggest that there might be some kind of corruption in your
printer drivers. Have a look at the following, and try to follow their
recommendations:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810894

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324757

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135406

The last one is about re-installing the printer drivers. I would try to
completely remove the printers that are currently on your computer (as per
the above articles -- make sure you disconnect any printers, and don't attach
them until you have installed the latest XP printer drivers for your
printers, after having removed everything), and then re-install the latest
drivers. There is a usually a point in the installation of the printer
drivers where it tries to detect the printer -- that's when you should
connect it.

Also, when you get that error message to close the "Spooler Subsystem", do
you send that message to Microsoft? Is there any link or button which can
tell you more information about the error? Oftentimes, when you can send an
error to Microsoft, they already have a solution for that error -- you just
need to click the appropriate link to get that information.
