Multiple Outlook Profile Problems

I created two new profiles: Home and Work and already had one called Outlook.
I want to keep my email separate. When I click on the mail icon I am asked
to choose which profile...I prefer that.

However, all email from the new profiles also goes to the Outlook profile as
do emails I send and my contacts. In the Outlook profile when I open it to
look at mail it now has the two new profile's folders listed (inbox, outbox,
sent, etc.). If I delete an email in say the Home in box, while in the
Outlook profile, it is deleted in both the Home inbox and in the Home inbox
in the Home profile. The reverse is not true.

Why are my emails going to Outlook profile?

Help?

Are you using different Personal Folder files (.PST) for each profile? If
you're using the same .PST for both profiles, what you're seeing is expected
behavior.

Here's what I've learned about my three data files:

- Profile Outlook: uses email acct Home and pst file Outlook (odd, maybe the
email acct is wrong here).
- Profile Home: uses email acct mail.optonline.net and Home.pst for data files
- Profile Work: uses email acct work and the data file is work.pst

For what it is worth: the Home datafile is in a Personal Folders file as is
Outlook but not Work, it is in one called Work.

I'm using Outlook 2003, Windows XP Business Edition. My email for HOme is a
POP address and my work too, though it comes through another server at
register.com where my company website is registered.

Any ideas?

Found something else.

I went into my control panel/mail and selected data files and saw that there
are three data files to choose from, only the first has the comment mail
delivery location:

Personal Folders: C:\doc & sett\myname\mydocs\outlook\outlook.post
PF: C:\doc&sett\myname\localsettings\applicationdata\outlook\home.pst
Work: C: same as above but work.pst

I did open the folder for each of the above files and found:
The first had Archive, back-up, esten, mailbox and outlook (with largest KB)
The second and third were identical and had extend, home, mailbox, outlook
(tiny file), personal folders fixed (small too), Personal folders (1)(small),
work (largest)

What's more, when I go back to mail in the control panel and this time look
at email accounts, there is only one, Home. It delivers email to Personal
Folders, which back when I was setting it up I think was the second one noted
above.

I can almost feel the solution but afraid of losing emails.

Hal, can you help?

I did it. I removed one datafile at a time under the Outlook profile and
tested send/receive email and found it didn't delete mail and I could still
send/receive. Once I'd deleted work and home I then deleted outlook and now
I only have two profiles and they work. Freed up space too. Thanks for the
suggestion. Sorry for my long-winded summation. Hope this helps others.
