multiple operation query

I am new to sql. I want to design a query where I can sum the value of
fields multiplied by each other. AKA Total VatCOSt = SUM of vatrate
unitcost for a specified form number.

Any ideas how I would do this
 
Hi,



SELECT ItemID, SUM(qty *unitcost)
FROM somewhere
GROUP BY ItemID
