multiple monitors on XP Rro

I've read the documentation on setting up multiple monitors on XP Pro and
haven't solved the issue.

I have two graphics cards:

First Card: AVGA e-GeForce 6600 GT with dual display support
Second Card: AVGA e-GeForce FX 5500

The first Card is working. I am able to set up dual monitors.

But I can't read the second card (the third monitor). The monitor indicates
"Out of Range" and I haven't been able to figure out the issue.

Some of the research I've found indictes I need to make an adjustment in the
BIOS. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Has anyone had success setting up
three monitors who might be able to shed some light?

Thanks

out of range means xp is sending signal but your resolution / refresh rate
is too great for the monitor to handle. Reduce resolution to 1024x768 and 75
hz on the monitors that you have this indication. I think that they will
work. In the display settings dont you see the monitors in line?

See screenshot example here:

if they are dark, then they are enabled.

If you need more help post here.

Hi John,

No, the third monitor does not display as online. I do not see it in
display settings. I do see monitors 1 and 2 (hooked to the dual video card).
But the third monitor (hooked to the second single video card doesn't read
at all).

Because it doesn't read as being connected I can't adjust the resolution
(which I have looked at as being a source of the issue). Also, two of the
monitors are the same make (AOpen). One of those monitors is connected to
the dual video card and is working fine. I have tested both AOpen monitors
on the dual video card and when they are connected each one works but when
they are connected to the second video card (third monitor connection) no
luck.

I've gone into the system check to see if the e-GeForce FX5500 is working
and it is. But I have yet to connect any monitor to it that actuallly works.

Any ideas? Could this be a conflict with the video cards? Should I be
disabling the software to one or both of these video cards?

Mark.

I have 4 monitors on my computer, 1 is a tv tuner and have learned alot, from
card conflicts to driver conflicts. I do kow that multi ATI cards are an
issue.

My best guess is to try another vid card, jsut any card, to see if you can
see that monitor. If you can then I would guess that your fx card is
conflicting, I would then try the latest nvidia drivers my husband has the
5500 and it works fine with 2 monitors. It could also be a IRQ conflict but
I have rarely ran into that with displays.

Also - you might try taking one monitor off the dual card and put it on the
FX card and see if it picks up, the whole issue is trying to find where the
issue resides.

Mark.. try this dirty trick that has worked for me in the past.
Go to your bios and make the PCI card to be the default (first) card.

If its already set like that, try the opposite.

tell me if this helps you...

Hi Kim,

You said that you have one monitor hooked up to a tv tuner. This may be the
answer to my problem. Did you use an adapter to achieve this? My multi card
also has a tv outlet, but I haven't looked for an adaptor for it.

Could you give me a rundown on how you did this? Is it a digital monitor
that was required to hook up to the tv tuner or would any monitor do?

Thanks.
