Multiple Monitor reset

I've been running dual monitors for several months now. I have an ATI
x300(?) card (Pci express, 128megs of ram) that has dual outputs. I've
got one montior on the RGB and one montior on the DVI. All working
well. My desktop is extended across both monitors.

However, I'm a gamer, and I"ve found that under certain graphic intense
situation, opening a browser window, etc, on teh secondary monitor
causes a small bit of drawing lag.

So, I decided to purchase a second PCI card and run two adapters.
However, I am unable to get my 2nd monitor to "unhook" from teh
secondary adapter of my ATI card and connect to the Nvidia MX4000 card
I have installed. If you go into display settings, and look at the
monitors, the system shows my ati and its secondary (for monitors 1 and
2) and now has a Monitor 3 in the pull down list, for the Nvidia card.

How do I get the monitor to redirect to the new card? If I unhook the
2nd monitor and connect it to the PCI card, nothing happens. In fact, I
lose both primary and seoncdary until i plug the 2nd monitor back in
the primary.

Any thoughts as to how to get the 2nd monitor attached to and working
on my PCI cards?

Please e-mail a copy of your respone to (e-mail address removed).

Thanks!!

first...
deactivate the 2nd monitor...
then install the 2nd video card...
and once your system boots you can re-enable it

It is NOT recommended to mix and match different manufacturers of video card.
If your are running ATI, then the second card should have been another ATI card.

You can not get Monitor 2 "moved" to the PCI video card because:

1) The primary video card has two video ports (VGA and DVI).

2) The primary video card is "initialised" first. It will always activate
BOTH video ports.
