multiple licenses are being ussued to 1 computer

Hello

I would like some help with the following problem.

We have two windows 2003 terminal servers and one of the two servers is
licensing server. We have 40 per computer licenses and they are all issued.
The problem is that 12 licenses(no temporary licenses) are issued to two
computers. In the terminal server licensing MMC there are two ip-adresses
listed with each 6 licenses assigned to it. When I look in the MMC under
temporary licenses there are more than 50 temporary licenses each assigned to
those ip-adresses.
It seems like everytime one of those computers logs on to the terminal
server there is a license request.

Thanks in advance

Are these clients thin clients?

Services Client Access Licenses

Hello

Thank you for the answer. I forgot to mention it but we have indeed some
thin clients. And it seems like the thin clients take all the licenses.
In the kb article 253292 there is suggested that the device's firmware needs
to be upgraded. The company who produced the thin clients does not exist
anymore for several years now. Therefore a firmware update is not available.

Isn't there a workaround for this problem?

Not that I know of. Since the problem is that the thin client
doesn't store the issued license, the problem has to be solved at
the client side.

Here's a workarround for you:
On the licensing server: Put your TS licensing server on "Per User
Mode".
On the Terminal Servers" Set your licensing mode in the Terminal Server
Configuration administration mmc also on "per User mode. This way at
least you wont get the problem of users unable to log on due to
licensing problems because in Per User mode the licensing module
doesn't keep track of who's logging on. The downsite of course is that
it is somewhat illegal practice to use this licensing mode if you only
have bought per device cal's. But as your thin-clients have this
problem, wich is not your fault, just be sure you have enough ts device
cal's to cover all your devices and i'm sure it's ok.
