Suddenly, when I click on a link to a email address or another site, it slows
down and then I have a box in my lower tray that says I have 56 Internet
Explorer windows open - and I do! I have to manually close them because the
right click "Close Group" does not work.

Any advice on how I can fix this? Tkx!

Ramesh,

Tried to use this fix but when I click on the "mailto" key under Regedit it
has no (+) or (-) sign and I get an error the says "Cannot open mailto: Error
while opening key"

Bazoni,

It's caused by incorrect permissions. Pls see section "Important note for
Windows 2000/XP systems" in that article.

Ramesh,

Sorry to keep bouncing you back and forth. I did read that article and the
link but I don't know which key they mean to click to change ownership.
Would I still have to do that even if I am listed as administrator? And what
key exactly do they mean? It was confusing to me.

Barb,

Right-click the mailto branch in the registry, and choose Permissions.
Add "Administrators" and "SYSTEM" to the list, and given them Full Control.
Also make sure that the "Users" group have Read access.

If you're unable to modify the Permissions, then you'll need to take
ownership of the branch and then assign permissions accordingly (as above).
