Resetting IE 7 default window size

A while back I did something to IE 7 such that it always opens with the window much smaller than
desired. I have tried every way I've been able to find about how to reset the default size so I
don't have to resize it every time I use it:

- Alt-F, hold down Ctrl key while selecting Exit
- Alt-F, hold down Shift key while selecting Exit
- hold down Ctrl key while closing window by clicking on X
- hold down Shift while closing window by clicking on X

None of these worked. FYI, I normally use Firefox and only use IE 7 to access my employer's Outlook
Webmail. However, it would be nice if I could fix this.

Also, are there any other Groups to which I should post this in addition to and/or instead of these?

Thanks in advance for any & all help.

Don't know about IE7. (updated to IE8) However, in IE8, we click view and
then zoom and set the size.

Whichever shortcut you are using to launch the window, right click it and
select properties. Under the 'Run' drop-down, choose "Maximized".

If the window still opens small, try this next:

Grab the corners of the window and drag it to full screen size. Do not use
Maximize. Close all other windows first and this one last. Windows will
remember the *last* screen size used the next time you open the program.

You can also access mail through Opera browser .

Jim:

It's not that I can't access and use MS Outlook Webmail through Firefox. It's that IE gives me
Outlook-specific selections in right-click context menus (e.g., Mark Message As Unread) but Firefox
only gives me generic web browser selections. Does Opera handle MS Outlook Webmail any better than
Firefox? If so, how? I'd love to have one less reason ever to use IE. Thanks.

Reset Internet Explorer's Default Window Size

1. Close Internet Explorer.

2. Open the Run box and enter:
reg delete HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main /v Window_Placement
(no word-wrap! only one line!)

3. Start IE. With only one Internet Explorer window or
tab open, un-maximize it.

2. Set it to the position and size that you want new
windows to open to.

3. Close Internet Explorer.

4. Wait a few seconds, then restart IE. Maximize it and
now all new windows will open to the previously set
size and position. To keep it that way, only close
IE when maximized. Sometimes, the windows size and
location may change again, just repeat the steps.
