First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.

Sounds like a browser hi-jack to me. Download and install Spybot and
Ad-aware (they're free). You can find them by doing a search on
Google.

Install them and make sure you get the latest update/patches (open the
program and click "update") for them.

1. Reboot the machine.
2. Once your machine boots up, DO NOT RUN IE.!!! Run Ad-ware in Deep
Scan mode. Clean everything it finds.
3. Run Spybot. Clean everything it finds.
4. Reboot the machine
5. Once the machine boots up, DO NOT RUN IE.!!!
6. Repeat the steps 2 and 3
7. Reboot the machine.
8. Try IE

If that doesn't work, downlaod and install Hi-JackThis post your log
on their forum site.
