Multiple Driver Issues, causing BSOD's

So I recently installed Windows Vista, and it seems to be stabling out more.
Anyway, I got it updated to Service Pack 1, then I got the RC for SP2 and
installed it. So, on the 26th, I was working on somethig, listening to some
music on iTunes, and I got a random bluescreen. I thought to my self, "Crap,
not again." So I restarted, and it was ok, gathered some info about the
problem, and moved on.

Then, the next day, the 27th, the computer locked up for no reason, and then
again on the 28th, but it happened twice on the 28th. After a restart each
time, it was back to normal.

Now today, so far it hasn't locked up for no reason. But I did get another
bluescreen. I restarted and this time, it was my Wireless driver causing the
problem.

Now the technical stuff, here are the pieces of hardware that caused my two
bluescreens, including drivers, and the fault buckets, (in order of
happening):

SB Live! 24-bit
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\p17.sys

Here are the Specs of my computer:
Biostar GeForce 6100-M9 Motherboard
AMD Athalon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ running at 2.00 GHz
1.25 GBs of RAM, (I'm buying a 512 MB Stick soon, hoping it adds a bit more
stability to my computer)
4 HDD: 1 120 GB Maxtor Internal, 1 100 GB Maxtor Internal, and 1 40 GB
Western Digital Internal, 1 500 GB Western Digital MyBook External
Sony CD-RW CRX320 EE
Diamond Stealth Raedon X550, 256 MBs of GDDR2 Memory on a PCI Express
Interface
NVIDIA nForce Onboard Ethernet Adapter
Netgear WG311v3 54 Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter
Realtek AC97 Onboard Audio
SB Live! 24-bit PCI Sound Card

I hope I provided enough information to be able to help fix this problem.

Did you update any drivers via winupdate?
If so roll back the drivers to the hw manufacturers drivers, then set
winupdate to only install critical updates

I did update the drivers with Windows Update, however, I only did after the
bluescreens happened. After the Sound Card caused BSOD, update, then the same
routine for the Wireless Card.

Although, today, now my computer has locked up three times in two hours.
After the second lockup, I removed the sound card. The third lockup was right
before comming here, right when I opened the email notifying me of a reply.

Should I try swapping out the Wireless card for another one? Would that
reduce the number of lockups or not?

you should uninstall RC SP2....you had no problems till you installed that
Its not quite ready for prime time

Actually, I had Vista SP1 installed before on my computer, it got too buggy
for me, so I went back to XP, and now recently, I'm back on Vista, so I can
prepare myself for Windows 7.

While I had Vista SP1 the first time, it was pulling the Random Lockups as
well, not the driver issues though. So I'll give that a try. Maybe that'll
work.

amount of Random Lockups, the lockup's now occur more than ever.

They've gotten so bad, that they happen within a minute of logging into
Windows.

Right now, I'm reinstalling Windows XP, mainly because until I figure out
how to fix these random lockups. These kind of lockup's have never happened
on XP, however, they are common place on Vista.

Please, can someone help me with these lockups, I'm sure if anyone reading
this encountered the amount of lockups like I had, and the amount of them,
you'd be asking for help as well.

It's apparent that your computer isn't built to run Vista - PERIOD.

this encountered the amount of lockups like I had, and the amount of them,
you'd be asking for help as well.

It's quite probable that the reason a legion of people haven't jumped
in to help is because FEW people have had the severity of problems
that you are having.

When Windows 7 becomes available don't even THINK about installing it
on that machine.

do these 2 devices have Vista drivers ??
Have you turned off onboard sound??
Did you update the Nvidea mobo drivers to Vista drivers??

Here is a suggestion..you seem to have 3 HD if you can spare one of them for
a separate Vista installation
using the build in Vista drivers for all devices to start with you can then
load the various Vista drivers for your
specific hardware one by one and see where the trouble lies.
