multiple-choice survey

Hi,

I want to put a page with a multiple choice survey on our
site. I plan to write the survey in Visual Basic, which I
have a little knowledge of. Does anyone know of a
facility to make such a survey in Frontpage? Or does
anyone know of a major problem I might have when I want to
put the survey, written in VB on the site via Frontpage?
Am I kidding myself that this can be done?

Thanks a lot,

Stephen

You will need to use ASP/VBScript.

I have created surveysusing FrontPage 2002 with drop down, text boxes, etc.
In drop down I define the data that will be transmitted to the database. For
example Very Satisfied is fed back as a 5 to the database. Makes
calculations later easier.

Use the Database Interface Wizard.
Add to current web, let it create a database for you. Tell the wizard how
many questions, etc. Then you will have an interface and the answers to the
survey will be fed into your new access database.
Here is a link to a tutorial:

Hi,

It would be great if I could do this survey in Frontpage.

I have Frontpage 2003 and when I clicked on New/New
TaskPane, More Web Site Templates (as it said to do in
Help to retrieve the Database Interface Wizard), I get six
Templates from "One Page Web Site" to "Project Web Site"
but there is no "Database Interface Wizard. I suppose it
is possible that this is no longer an option in Frontpage
2003 but why is it still listed in Help?

Just to let you know, we're not really making this
multiple-choice survey to create a database (but I'm happy
to create one for future reference and I do have Access,
if I can use that for the database) but rather to make it
easy for the customer to determine which product is best
suited for them.

For example, if a prospective customer answers question 1
by clicking radio button a.) "Age 20 to 30," and in
question 2, clicks radio button b.) "Works out twice a
week," etc., then we would suggest a different product
than if they answered question 1 by clicking radio button
a.) "Age 20 to 30," and in question 2, clicked radio
button d.) "Never works out," etc. (This is simplified
but I suspect you get the idea of what we are trying to
do.)

So for every combination of customer answers, we then want
to have our answer which would recommend a certain product
and have a small paragraph of why we believe this product
best suits them.

This is what we are trying to do. Do you think we can
pull it off in Frontpgage 2003 (with the help of MS
Access, if we need it)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

To run a database you need a FP site hosted on a server based web (not a disc based web) running under Windows (w/ support for
Access DB and ASP)

Make sure you have a web site open.
Tools->Page Options - Authoring tag
Tick the box "Active Server Pages"
Click OK

Hi,

Active Server Pages has a check in it but I still don't
get a Database Interface Wizard. One of the six choices
is "Import Web Site Wizard," but I assume that won't do
it. The other choices are "One Page Web Site", "Corporate
Presentation", "Empty Web Site", "Personal Web Site", and
Project Web Site" but no "Database Interface Wizard.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone think that they could
do in Frontpage, this particular multiple-choice survey
(with an answer to the customer from us for each
combination of choices). If no one thinks they can do it,
then I guess it doesn't matter whether or not I can open
the "Datebase Interface Wizard." If someone thinks they
can do it, then that means that at least it can be done,
although it is quite possible that I can't do it.

Thanks for all your help,

Stephen

Hi,

I still can't retrieve the Database Interface Wizard no
matter what I do. In my old version of FP I had a choice
between open a page or a web page, but I don't seem to
have that in FP2003.

I haven't had any other problems but something is clearly
not working. Does anyone think that uninstalling and
installing Frontpage again might solve this?

Thanks a lot,

Stephen

In FP 2003 it is File Open Site (instead of web)
