Multiple Boot Up Routines

Can WinXP Home SP3 be set up to give me the choice of one of several boot up
routines upon power up? For example a "long" (normal) boot routine that has
everything and a "short" boot routine that has a minimum set of drivers and
start up programs of my choice.

If using the "short" routine, what happens if I start a program that
requires drivers or processes that were not installed? Will the program call
up the required drivers and then run or will it just not run?

Yes, use Hardware Profiles:

one method is to clear
out the startups from
msconfig

and selectively choose
which ones to place in
the users "startup folder"
under program files.
