Multiple adapters

Although I have only one network adapter, the device list indicates it
with #2 and indeed, the registry stores information about two identical
adapters. I suppose this derives from a second installation of the adapter.

Although this does not appear to have any impact, how can I rid the
registry of such redundant information and more generally in cases where
the hardware shows several times although only one instance is
functional ? Trying to delete / edit the info fails in regedit.

Regards

Delete both adapters from the Registry, then restart Windows.
