Multiplayer issue with XP Pro

I have been playing Dirt Track Racing Sprint Cars for a
few years now (tons of others also with this problem)....
And since ive installed windows xp pro, you get many
errors causing boots from the game while playing.. Ive
tryed setting compatibility to 98, 95, 2000 etc... To no
avail.. I will copy and paste some of the errors from
the error log... there are hundreds of people starting to
hate this game due to windows xp, many have gone to a
dual boot system so they can run this game on windows
98/me without problems.. here are some of the errors from
the log file in root...

ifinline.h, Line 413: ETRACE!: section not found for
group net game info
deshell.c, Line 2221: ETRACE!: key chat line not found
under section network game in shell store
deshell.c, Line 2221: ETRACE!: key save slot 2 not found
under section saved setups in shell store
ifinline.h, Line 378: ETRACE!: index not found for group
quick race track not found

Thanks in advnace to anyone can point me in the right
direction for fixing this game... JR

have some patches available for download at:

This is not the title i have listed and their website
doesnt provide a fix... any other operating system this
game works fine except windows xp... there are hundreds
waiting on a fix for xp, ive downloaded the compatibility
tool and gonna mess around with that again... but again
this is a long shot... JR

Also i have the current patches for dirt tracks racing
sprint cars, windows xp is fully updated, etc etc... this
is a windows xp setting that causes this game to function
improperly... JR

Hi JR,

Here's the direct link to the Atari support page for Sprint Cars:

Look through all their suggestions, especially the last one they list.

As those errors are generated by the game, and show the debug lines
that they reference in the game itself, Atari will need to be involved in
order to find the correct solution, otherwise I could post general info
on how to troubleshoot your system if you feel it's your setup at fault.

Beside what Jimmy has offered, check in Control Panel/Administrative
Tools/Services and see if Indexing Service is started and running. If it
isn't try turning that on and make sure it has started, then try the game
again. Some games require this (for some reason), even older ones like Gran
Prix Legends.

Nope indexing doesnt cure the boots recieved with those errors... i loaded the comp. toolkit 3 and it has dtrsc listed as one of the games... it has several options under the exe listed but i am not sure how to do this... and when i started to try this it caused the game to have incredibly slow load times... and lock ups... so i formatted since then cause i couldnt get it to work right again... if any of you have this toolkit can u take a look at dirt track racing sprint cars and tell me what i need to do.. as it lists many games there and its one of em... Thanks J
