Trivial Pursuit - error with Quicktime Drivers

Hi...I am trying to play Trivial Pursuit on an XP machine. I have enabled
Windows 98/ME compatibility with this game as it does not run on XP. However
when I attempt to run the game I get the error "Unable to initiate Quicktime
drivers. Movies and animations will not play correctly". The game then errors
and will not play. I have Quicktime installed on my pc and it works with now
problems.. has anyone come across this same problem and found a way to combat
it?

Thanks Julie

Hi Julie,

Which version of TP are you trying to play?
This version seems to run natively on Windows XP:

Hello Jimmy

The version you have highlighted I have bought for the Playstation now. The
edition that doesnt play is just called Trivial Pursuit, CD-ROM edition. It
plays on 9x/ME but not 2000 or XP. Just wondered if there was a way round the
problem.

Hi Julie,

According to this article on NT Compatible, you have a DOS version
of Trivial Pursuit: http://www.ntcompatible.com/cdetail1607.html

When a game is a DOS game, it could work using compatibility mode:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=292533 or by using the Multiboot
bootdisk from: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lpcd/downloads.html
and always check at fileplanet.com to see if there's a patch available.

With DOSBOX you can emulate a DOS computer on your XP desktop:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/information.php Or try MS Virtual PC:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/virtualpc/downloads/trial.asp
which allows you to install DOS or to run any operating system inside XP.

If you prefer to explore other advanced methods, here are two excellent
tutorials I've found on the subject: http://www.dosgames.com/xphints.php
and http://home.earthlink.net/~angeldancer27/XpGameList.htm For sound
issues use: http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound Good Luck! :)
