Help with Multi Catalog

I have searched, and searched, the Web for a reasonably priced Multimedia
File Cataloging program/package.

I'm interested in organizing -- using one program -- my music (MP3),
pictures, icons (.ico's and .png's), and videos.

I found one I'm interested in (WhereIsIt) but it has restrictions on the
Email Account I use to receive an acknowledgement of my order. It precludes
free email. Well, I'm totally leery of giving a physical address in order to
purchase a piece of software--not to mention using PayPal, but I have to get
it sent to a physical address.

Anyways, I would really appreciate if anyone has recommendations for XP
File/Multimedia Cataloging Software (between $39.00 - $59.00).

I believe I posted this question in "Windows XP New Users".

Perhaps my initial post contained some "venting", nevertheless, the question
was clearly stated regarding desired software for Windows XP.

I'd appreciate helpful responses absent condescension.

This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup to help users with concerns/issues with
Windows XP. Technically - your question is not one specifically related to
Windows XP (other than the fact we might assume you are running Windows XP,
having chosen to post here.) Most software is designed to run on multiple
platforms - even if they are limited to just a single family (*nix, Windows,
OS X, etc.)

What you are trying to get is opinions on a specific piece of software that
has little to nothing to do with Windows XP itself. It's akin to walking
into a truckdealership and asking them about your washer/dryer. Sure - they
can tell you if the truck can haul the washer/dryer and perhaps even the
best way to tie it down in a given truck, etc - but as for detaiuls on the
washer/dryer - doubtful they will be much help.

I used to utilize something called 'InsideCAT' to catalog my files/fodlers
on CD/DVD. This one interested me at one point: http://www.wincatalog.com/

Otherwise - you may want to look on a more general newsgroup/forum
someplace - something that is just for opinion on products - not for the
operating system it will be installed upon. ;-)

Thank you.

Obviously, I'm new to this kind of thing. Your response/advice/suggestion
was extremely helpful, and insightful.

It was/is very much appreciated. I'll definitely be more aware of the group
to which I've posted a question, and the wording of that question.

Again, thanks.

Try WinCatalog Light. It cannot extract thumbnails from pictures and
movies, it is just a file cataloguer. However it covers all basic
needs and it is freeware. Then, if you like it, you will be able to
upgrade to the Pro version ($29.95 at the moment).
