multiboot

My Hard Drive is setup on 2 partitions, Xp pro on part. 1 and I'm trying to
put Vista RC1 on part. 2.

1) I did a clean install through Xp pro and install on drive D, after going
thru the copy files, expanding files, installing features and updates and
Completing the installation, the system restart for the 1st time (Vista says
it'll reboot several times during the installation), it goes to the boot
manager, I choice vista and get a error that "windows will not start",
displays "File: \windows\system32\winload.exe" status: 0xc0000225, "INFO: The
selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or
corrupt.

2) I've tried several times in reinstalling vista on Drive D after
formatting Drive D.

Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong and have a correction to my problem.

Thanks,
Leroy

Leroy,

Vista may not install on a secondary partition (Drive D). I have XP Pro
and Vista RC2 happily coexisting on two physical hard drives (Vista RC2 on
"C" drive and XP Pro on the "E" drive). I believe Vista will only install on
a primary active partition. Hope this helps.

Regards,

Thanks for response,

I've been reading other one else problems and response, seems like Vista can
be put on part2 of the same drive. But I don't know why it is not completing
the installation.
