Can't complete install

I have tried everything I can think of, or can find on the web, but Vista
still will not install on my D drive.

XP is on C (80GB). I tried a few times yesterday to install Vista to spare
space on D (120GB). Boot manager reported that I had a few copies of Vista
and one of Home Premium.

I installed from the DVD. I tried from within XP. I rebuilt the bcd. I ran
chkdsk. Nothing worked.

Finally, today, I wiped the drive completely clean (via format), reinstalled
Vista HP once, and yet Boot manager says I now have several copies of Vista,
and STILL can't find winload.exe to complete the installation and run it.

Help!

Vista Boot Manager is a very dumb booter. I had 4 versions of Vista on my
machine according to it, even though I manually removed them. The boot
manager is actually on your C drive. Download VistaBootPro at
http://www.vistabootpro.org/

And remove the bad installations.
