Multiboot

I recently bought a used hard drive for my Dell laptop. I re-installed
windows XP by booting off the disk. And everything is working fine, except
for the fact that every single time I start the computer, it stops and asks
which OS to boot from, they are both labled Microsoft Windows XP or something
like that. The top one works, the bottom one, when selected, just gives an
error. How can I get rid of this second one, so it doesn't stop everytime??

When I installed windows, I delted all the partitions and had windows make a
new one, I checked and there is still only one partition so I don't know
where this phantom OS is coming from.
