Multiboot Setup 98 XP

I just finished my second computer assembly and would like to try to
set up a multiboot using Win 98 and XP. I have a new HD which I hope
to partition into three parts. I would use Fat32 on the first two
partitions and NTFS on the third. Then I would install Win 98 on the
first partition, my programs (Photoshop etc) on the second partition
and XP on the third partition. I would install Win 98 first, XP next
and then the apps. Will this work? Will both OS's be able to open the
programs from the second partition or no....? I surely could use some
advice and guidance on this one. TIA for all thoughts.

Sure. WinXP can read FAT32 and NTFS, however Win98 cannot read NTFS
at all. Make sure you install win 98 first, an win xp will take care of
setting itself up in a boot menu.

You will have to install the software once for each OS, though.

Actually, I should admit that I've never done the multiboot thing with
XP, just Win NT and Win 2000, but it should not work differently.

Install Windows 98 first, then Windows XP. You'll have to install the
software on each OS though. Best to keep the software installations on
the drive the OS is installed on as XP can throw up all kinds of
problems when files get changed by the other OS. Keep the third
partition for saved files.

Exactly as I would advise. I had a lap-top with tripple boot - Win 98, Win
2K and XP Pro.
I installed them in that order and the boot menu took care of itself.
You will need to install the programs for each operating system for the
registry entries to be created properly.

The other posts are right but if its your first time, just expect it
to appear like XP is going to wipe out everything including
partitions, once you get to that point. Since you're at it why not
set up a Linux Partition too? I have a linux, 98, Win NT 4.0 system.
I just wanted to learn a little unix and linux stuff on my own. It
was challenging but I learned a lot about partitioning, MBR, Bat, HDD
structure History, etc. It was fun. There is a nice Partition program
I found called Partition Manager by a guy named Ranish. It is very
good, seems vague at first but no issues at all. I would up load the
program here if I knew how, just google it.

Good Look, have fun.
