Multi-level lists

I have created two multilevel lists with the same indents, hanging and 1st
tab. The second set has another tab far to the right and different font
requirements. When I try to "Set Numbering Value"

1. The value changes and the style changes to the same level in the other
list.
2. The number changes for a second, then goes back to the lhgher number.
If I "Undo" once the correct change happens.

Is there something I can turn off in "Office Button", word, advanced or
somewhere else???

How did you set up the list? Is it a list style? Did you link the levels to
paragraph styles?

I created multiple Level List "A"
Multilevel List - Define New Multilevel List - and went on and created all
levels and wrote in a style. The styles were created from this once I hit OK.

The worked for some time.

I found it necessary to create a new Multilevel List with the same
paramaters except the font, bold, underline etc. was changed in this new
Multilevel List "B".

I was asked to add "LIST LEVEL X (Continued) if the particular Level went
past the end of a page. Therefore, I needed to change the List Numbers; say,
from IV to III. When I did this is when I discovered the problem of needing
to hit backspace when the style name changed as I changed the number.

I'm not sure what you are doing, exactly. Note that changing the numbering
of a certain level changes it for the entire list. If you are trying to
restart numbering, try the Restart command on the right-click (context)
menu. And to change text formatting, you can apply a character style.
