Multi Column Sub-Report Won't Work

I'm trying to create a report which has a header across the top of each page
and then 2 columns below that (running down, then across). The report runs
for several pages.

The only way I can think of to get both the page spanning header and the
multi-column body is to run the multi-column part as a sub-report. I can
make it work if I set the sub-report to run 1st across, then down. But if I
set it to run 1st down, then across (which is what I need) I just get 1
column on the left, running from page to page. I can cure that by setting
the sub-report's "Can Grow" property to "No", but then I only get the first
page worth of data. Is there a way to accomplish this in Access
(2000/2002)?

Thanks for your help.

I found the following post helpful - watch for word wrap

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...&seekm=OxE#UUQTCHA.1828@tkmsftngp13&frame=off

It took me whilt to get the handle of Duane's suggestion and adapting to my
tables but it finally worked. I ended up creating two subreports one for
column1 and one for column2 and simple arranged them next to each other in
the detail of the report.

I needed to group the results further and never ended up getting it to work
properly. So some groupings have a column2 that is longer them column1. But
if you need no further grouping this should work.

I think all you have to do is go to the File Page set up,
uncheck the Same as Detail checkbox and set the column
width manually (might be ok).

With that done, you can then make the report wide enought to
get the page header the way you want it.
