Hello all,

First, here is my setup..

6.4 gb c:\

30 gb partitioned into d:, e:, f:, g:, and h:

This is my situation. I have win98 installed on c:\ and win XP on f:\. I
would like to get rid of win98 and put XP on the c: drive to free up f:. Is
it just a matter of copying the directories over to c: and edit the
boot.ini? That just sounds too simple.

Many thanks in advance!!

Sam

Nope, its not that simple, since XP knows its installed on F: Reinstall XP
and install it on the C: drive. Then you can recover any files you need
from the F: drive. You will have to reinstall your apps though.

You can move the boot files to F:.
Remove the reference to win98 in the boot.ini file.
Change the active partition from C: to F:.

XP has references in the Registry about being installed on F:.

Much easier to just leave XP on F.
Delete the Windows directory from C to reclaim the space, and delete the
Win98 entry from the boot.ini file.
If needed, use Partition Magic to adjust the sizes of partitions.
