MTU Settings

I want to change the mtu settings for my PPPoE internet
connection. But the microsoft tutorial for xp wants me to
edit the "regedit" and put a new folder with new protcol
settings in and the restart my computer.

If the slows my connection would i be able to just delete
the regedit folder which i created to return my previous
MTU settings back to the normal.?

Or has anyone done this and found any problems.?

I wouldn't change the MTU settings unless I encountered a black hole
router or a bug like the old ICS bug that broke path MTU discovery. With
path MTU discovery working, IP will adjust the MTU dynamically to avoid
fragmentation as the path changes.

Otherwise, use DrTCP to change the MTU.
