Using XP MCE. I found a folder with a gibberish name that contains only one
file: msxml4-KB927978-enu.log (277kb in size)

What is this file and can I delete it?

Hi Jeff,

That is the update file from when you took the KB927978 update from MS
Updates. If you're confident that it is causing no problems, then go ahead
and delete it. If HD space is not an issue to you, no harm in letting it
be.

Yes it can be deleted. It is a log file from the installation of that
update.

I know this post will be off topic. how do i start my own thread or
board. All i can figure out is how to post on other boards.

Use a newsreader to access what are actually Usenet newsgroups directly from
the MS news server. XP comes with Outlook Express which can be set up for
newsgroup access. Here is a link with info on how to set it up.

Hi Jeff,
This the Log file for the security updates for MSXML4.0 and you can delete
it safely.
