.mswmm

I have downloaded SP2 and have a version of Microsoft Windows Movie Maker,
version 5.1. It saves any movie I make with the extension ( .mswmm ). How
do I change this so other software will recognize the format so I can make
movies to play on my DVD player. I have DVD Complete and My Sonic DVD and
neither software recognizes this format.

MSWMM is the extension for the project file.

From menu use "File -> Save Movie file". This will allow you to save as a
WMV or DV AVI. New versions of MyDVD accept both formats. DVD Complete only
accepts AVI (I think).

If you captured movie in DV AVI, you should be be exporting the movie in
this format too for quality.

To save as DV AVI proceed with wizard as above but in the dialog with Movie
Settings look closely, there is a blue link saying "Click here for more
options". Use this to show more options. From the Drop down menu that is
displayed select DV AVI.

Hello,

Worry not, its a common mistake....

To get an almost universally acceptable format file simply click on FILE
SAVE MOVIE FILE and follow the dialog through....a point will come where
you have to specify the quality, towards the bottom of the drop down list
box you will see DV-AVI. Thats the best you can get out of Movie Maker...but
its also quite large...

You could instead settle for one of the other options (All of the other
options are saved in the compressed format with a file extension of WMV) The
degree of quality in all of the other options is quite marked, between the
best and the worst of them....experience and the one line description of the
formats will guide you.
