Hello,
Lately I've encountered an entry point not found error.
I've researched it and found the solution in Microsoft
article #318730. When I tried to apply their
recommendations, I encountered a Microsoft outlook error.
I found the description of my problem in article #810646.
when I contacted Microsoft to obtain the fix as specified
in their article, I was refered to this newsgroup. Can
anybody help?
Thanx,
Anna

Bit confused here. This is an article for Windows NT4.0 and you posted to a Win2K forum. Do you have NT4 or W2K?

Although the same steps would probably work and I think I've also had a similar problem before and just copied over the DLLs, you haven't been clear in what files you copied and from where you got them.

Remember they must be from a computer with the same SP level.

I'm sorry for the unclearity.
I have several computers all running w2k sp4. i copied and
replaced files: msvcirt.dll,msvcrt20.dll, msvcrt40.dll,
but couldn't replace msvcrt.dll. the system says that the
file is in use. even in safe mode, the message is still
the same. any advice? The main reason is as explained in
article 318730.
Thanks,
Anna

Thank you for your help.
I've downloaded inuse, and ran it. i received a WFP error.
I tried to find a way to disable the file protection, but
couldn't find a reliable source. any ideas?

Check: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;222193&Product=win2000

and : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;222471&Product=win2000

I believe, that due to Microsoft's infinite wisdom in all things digital, the actual program to handle WFP is SFC.

So, type SFC /? at a command prompt and then I think the option /CANCEL is the one you need.

Keep us informed.

I tried to follow your recommendations but to no avail.
Eventually i just reinstalled sp4 and it seemed to have
solved the original problem.
Thank you for all your efforts,
Anna
