msvcrt.dll ;-(((((((((

Since January, after 'upgrading' to IE 6, I haven't been
able to access email or other pages requiring excange of
information.

I keep getting this message: Internet Explorer has
encountered a problem and must close. I cannot copy the
signature part of the message, but it always contains the
msvcrt.dll reference.

In order to access pages where information can be
exchanged, such as this one, I must use other browsers.
I'm under the immpression that there are different
'msvcrt.dll 'files'' and that there is a question of
'compatibility' of these files with differeent 'versions'
of W98/W98se.

Has anyone had this same problem, and solved it? If so,
pleeeeze help

Try the following and see if they help.

Error message:
IE must be shut down. We're are sorry. Send report?
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25409

What this message means is that this file is damaged or corrupted in some
way.You could try downloading this file again from here which normally fixes
this problem
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/d...es.shtml?msvcrt

If you can't replace the file, try tis:

First, extract the new dll file to a folder on your computer. Then find the
path to the old file. ( C:\Windows\System )

Restart the Machine, watch for the Starting Windows prompt and press the F8
key select Command Prompt only.

Change to the folder where the file is stored ("CD C:\Windows\System" then
press enter) and rename the existing file (ren msvcrt.dll mscvrt.old (press
enter)

Next change to the downld folder where you extracted the new dll file, and
then copy the file to the folder where the file you are replacing is located
("copy msvcrt.dll c:\windows\system, enter")

Reboot the system.

or.........if still no joy, see if any of the the following will help
